In the field of gadgets and gizmos Samsung has introduced a low-price desktop computer called Samsung chrome-box with few enhancements runs by Google’s chrome OS. Overall it’s just a box which has no mouse, no keyboard, no display but embedded with desktop power for a budget price with a moderate package.

Design

Its not that much compact with a thickness of 193x193x33mm weighing 1.11kg, and gives a little image like the Mac mini though vary in color as that of Mac mini. The chrome-box has six USB ports with two ports on the front and four on the back. All USB ports are 2.0.

For your display there is a DVI, in order to have a wired connection to the web gigabit Ethernet is provided. It also has built-in Wi-fi (802.11a, b, g and n) plus Bluetooth 3.0. The HDMI ports that can be used via an adapter, and other display output ports along with a headphone/mic jack is also provided. There are no built-in memory card readers but can be connected through USB adapter.

Chrome Operating System

The chrome OS varies in a way that it is an almost partially a web-dependent operating system. For this to get efficiently working you should have a reliable web connection. It was introduced last year but with not that much positive response because of complaints about the need for a continuous web-connection and relatively high price. This might be a problem, for users that have laptops that are always on, but those who expects always-on access for their desktops than they should check this out.

The chrome operating system is an augmented version of Chrome browser by Google. But do provided with standard windows-style desktop and once the user starts engaging with it he feels like himself working through the browser.

Users are able to work and store their files online and offline as they like to do. Google Docs is used for instance if you want to upload files that you want to work with which is a bit jabber. It supports files including Microsoft office suite as well as image types including GIF, JPEG, PDF along with different types of video and audio formats.

Another little thing that is not that much in favor of a user the availability of little storage in the chrome-box. There is 16GB solid state drive is provided which is not more than one can get on his Smartphone. But one good thing is the quicker booting from the hard disk so that you are ready to work in just seconds.

Performance

In comparing to other latest gadgets reviews the chrome box is equipped with dual-core 1.9GHz Intel Celeron processor and is not ideal for hardcore gamers as it is at the low end of Intel’s chips. It’s backed with 4GB ram and able to play 1080 HD video playback without stammering. The overall web browsing experience is pretty smooth if not that much quick. You can open multiple tabs along with other applications at once.

Two displays can be handled by the machine at once.

i) Mirroring only

ii) However spanning is promised in the later upgrades of operating systems.

The product is open about the fact of compatibility of USB devices is not mentioned. So printers, microphones and other devices are not guaranteed to work as with that of Microsoft OS, so users should check compatibility of particular devices before buying them.

So overall in the race of latest gadgets 2012 it is a nice gadget with pretty nice design and attractive specifications. Though there are some holes left with making the technology more reliable and efficient but could be improved in later versions.

Among latest gadgets 2012 the Glasses-free 3D screens would be available soon in the market by which more than one person can watch the screen without any distortion in the image quality.

If you have ever experience a 3D screen that you can watch without wearing any glasses then you will come to know the problem that as you change your angle of viewing, the image goes out of synch. Then it becomes difficult to watch 3D images when you are sitting with your friends and family.

These problems can be eliminated by Ultra-D technology that is used in TV’s introduced by Stream TV.This point will be proved soon when TVs featuring its tech hit the pubs and bars this summer.

Apart from this Stream TV will also introduce a 42-inch autostereoscopic LCD TV, tablets and a smartphone with a five-inch display and all these will feature a Ultra-D glasses-free 3D technology.

Gadgetfist is going to present an informative review of LG L7 P700. In the race of the latest gadgets for every three budget phones on the contrary there are various handsets with even much better screens, extra processor speed and much lavish and attractive design. The LG L7 has got appealing design with built-in NFC and has a much desirable screen. The LG L7 is available at a price of £250 which is very costly as compared to L3 cut-down previously launched by LG.

The finishing of the phone is in white color. The large home button and presentable-sized screen outshines in its front give us a glance like Samsung galaxy S II. LG L7 is pretty lighter and slim too and easy to carry in your pocket or in a handbag. A volume controller on the left side of the phone awaits user to be interacted with, while the top edge is equipped with headphone socket and a power button.

The bottom edge contains socket for USB charging. On the backside of the handset it has a full-sized SIM socket along with MicroSD card slot. Users are able to use cards of capacities up to 32GB, depending on their need. A camera of 5-megapixel with average specifications is located at the back and a speaker grill.

The screen as major part of the design is also much appealing with a standard resolution of 480×800 and it’s not shameful at all. The screen has a bright colorful detailed display. While streaming through some videos via Plex the result was pretty good. The big problem is with the lumpish processor of LG, Which means that you have to dial back the stream quality. But on a blazing rate the L7 has got good image quality along with its design and probably its screen is meting up as one of the best features of the phone.

Now we come to the point about the speed of the handset. According to latest gadget reviews about different handsets in the market the handset gives its users a big disappointment relating to its speed. In order to shutdown your phone swiping your finger through the home screen is enough. When you press any item in the menus you have to wait for seconds-long , that was really a big gash.

As we discussed earlier it’s not a wonderment. The LG L7 is operating on android 4 with a 1GHz processor and an Adreno 200 GPU. All things are wielding together using Qualcomm Snapdragon chip-set, specifically the MSM7227a.

If you are looking for phone with pretty decent sound features then there is a Dolby Mobile here, yes its LG7, probably you will not be disappointed by what LG is offering you.

One of the odd move is the hardware aspect of this phone that LG has under-specified, and has also decided to install Android 4. This is not an unusual step in itself but the visual elements has stripped out of the OS by the company which is strange. What do you mean by this is that you are running Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), but it gives you a look as that of Gingerbread. This makes your phone slower as compared to using Gingerbread.

The LG L7 as no software keys shown. However capacitive touch controls are provided on left and right side of the home key. They are no buttons to access the recent application menus, but built into Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) and you have to press and hold the home-key. This doesn’t feel like a big disaster but the thing that puts users in curiosity is that why the company bothered with this version of the operating system. Might be their goal is certainly to support NFC. The underpinnings of Ice Cream Sandwich are pretty obvious in the handset.

The other odd thing about the phone is its call quality. The call quality of L7 is not as good as that of L3. Calls look like dampened and it’s harder to hear what is going on due to less detail. The speaker and earpiece volumes don’t allow use in nosier environment because they are far too low, not talking about concerts just outdoor locations with a little road noise. These issues can be solved by introducing an update, but who will wait for that..

There is a rational or you can say undeviating problem the cameras of mid and low-range phones. The pictures taken from such mobiles are not that much detailed. You are able to make videos from 5-megapixel camera but its VGA, which makes you think about the processing speed of L7. Such pictures are only useful if you are going to upload your picture on the internet but not of that much good quality to do much else with.

Now we come to talk about the NFC. As one of its plus points LG equipped L7 with NFC tag. The tag is used to tell the phone when you are in the car. The tag puts you in a mode which seems to be most suitable for what you are doing. This drives the phone into navigation mode and also allow users to set up other actions. But the defined actions are not that much absolute, because if you think that the tag will go to certain website, doing more tangled task or call a phone number then you are not so lucky.

Motorola Razr is a stylish and unique phone and its been a robust and reliable companion from a very long time. With the exception of the dreadful battery its really a phone that you cant live without falling in love with it.When we talk about the battery here comes an upgraded version that is Motorola Razr Maxx having improved battery performance of two days rather than just a day as in Motorola Razr.

When we compare the design of new Motorola Razr Maxx with the original Razr, they are quite much different. As the new Maxx has to accommodate a larger battery so it does not have a stylish twist but a little bit trendy.Rear part of the razor was controversial but not like Samsung Galaxy S handsets that copy the iPhone. However Razr enter the market with something new and different. It still looks good but a little flection has gone due to the new battery.Other discriminating feature is the Motorola logo,it has changed from black text on a silver background, to silver text on a black background. On the right hand side there is Volume and power buttons,micro-USB and mini-HDMI outputs are at the top and on the left are micro-SIM and microSD card slot .The Maxx is 18 grams heavier but it doesn’t bother at all.

After too much struggle Razr has achieved a good battery life for heavy mobile users at least charging whole night will get you through the whole day.But for the people who use mobile broadband, games and video on it need something more.

It has a clear and well balanced sound quality .One can enjoy its sound via good headphones. The speakers are good enough to produce loud sound. But one problem is that its speakers are at the back so its sound becomes suppressed when it is placed on the table. It has a nice display. You can easily see its display in ambient light. Its display is descent enough for watching videos.

It has a dark theme having black and white SMS app although it can be improved also.It has a good call quality. In terms of hardware its exactly like the original Razr.We have no problem in hearing the call as the phone has the quality to cancel the noise to produce the best quality sound.

When the original Razr step into the market,it was really disappointing that it does not have Ice Cream Sandwich installed. But not to worry now Motorola Razr Maxx has come with Ice Cream Sandwich in the new year.It has a good camera result and the colors are muffled having descent details with pretty good images. But its auto focus does not work well.It supports 1080p video recording but still its not the best quality.

Overall its a great phone having fabulous extra battery with fine media player quality .Its battery could be enough to be the reason for the buyers to get it at once.

Microsoft Surface tablet, the Athena is a concept Tablet presented by British industrial designer Tim Chege is also one of them. Its equipped with detachable touch sensitive keyboard and is slightly concave shaped from the edges. This Tablet was actually the Tim’s undergraduate degree project that exhibits excellent work design that is clearly shown by its curved body along the height and the width so that it can easily be grab in the hand like the paper. It has a 12.1 inch OLED display that enhance its functionality. Its slim size makes me think of a Tegra processor or maybe an Intel one.It also has a built-in mechanized stand that keeps its posture perfect by using unique spring mechanism.Overall this concept deliver good design and usability.
